Welcome to NYSMTA.org! OUR MISSION
NYSMTA is dedicated to furthering the art of music and promoting the growth and professional development of its members. It seeks to enhance the educational and performance expertise in all areas of music teaching through its sponsorship of an annual conference that includes workshops on pedagogy, theory, composition, repertory, materials and performance. Throughout the state, Local Associations sponsor musical and educational events of specific interest to those in their communities.

| NYSMTA PROFILE
Included in our membership are the concert artists of today and tomorrow, faculty members of the finest music schools and the private music teachers who build the broad base of America's musical life. If you are not a member at present, we hope to welcome you as one in the future. NYSMTA is a state affiliate of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association). Upon joining NYSMTA, new members automatically become members of MTNA, receive the American Music Teacher magazine and may then enter students in the competitive auditions held annually on state, division and national levels. NYSMTA/MTNA is the only organization focused on the concerns of teachers and students of the entire range of music studies: all instruments and voice, musicology, theory, composition, conducting, etc.
